Q Choose one of the following scenarios to focus on for this assignment. Scenario 1 Shannon confides in you that she continues to struggle with an eating disorder that first began when she was 14 years old. Because of her struggle, she has begun to question whether she can even be called a Christian. Shannon asks, “Can someone lose their salvation? Am I saved? Will I ever stop struggling with my eating disorder?” Scenario 2 Sam and Sue have been faithful lay Sunday school teachers, counselors, and small-group leaders for many years at your church. While they often seem happy to those they meet, they confide to you that their marriage and children have been suffering for years because of the amount of ministry to which they have committed themselves. Sam and Sue also mention that they have tried so hard to do so much to please God, but they feel like failures, and they are just ready to give up and leave the church because they feel burnt out. Sam asks, “How can we find rest and peace in our lives?” Scenario 3 Bernard has been involved in several churches, though he does not attend frequently and never really stays at one church for a very long time. Over lunch, he tells you that he just can’t commit to a church because all the churches he has attended are hypocritical and judgmental. When you ask him to elaborate, Bernard gives specific experiences with Christians he has known. He asks, “Why are Christians so imperfect? Why should I attend a church with people who might hurt me like I’ve been hurt in the past?” In a paper of 2,000-2,500 words, consider the following concerning your chosen scenario: Part 1: Address necessary biblical and theological truths for consideration, presenting a detailed summary of theological foundations and a clear argument for their significance and relevancy. Part 2: Address the experience of the hypothetical person in his or her particular scenario and discuss how ethical principles in Scripture would help form Christian values. Part 3: Address an application of Parts 1 & 2 by offering spiritual guidance to the hypothetical person that would help resolve the hypothetical question asked. In case of Shannon, the reason for her eating disorder has to be found out by her as well as by her parents. This is because the age of 14 years is a young age when many things about physicality and spirituality can go wrong. Shannon being a woman could have been tempted to look slim from her young age for which she had become psychologically obsessed with keeping her body as slim as possible. It could also be that her eating disorder is related with eating too much of food at one time or in a day.
